Splash screen

Firstly, check whether your computer loads past the Dell splash screen. This is the sight that greets you every time it’s switched on, with a loading bar and a large Dell logo.

Okay, so it doesn’t – reset the BIOS value

If your computer doesn’t get that far, then the next step is to reset the BIOS (basic input/output system) back to its default value. To do this, restart the computer and repeatedly press the F2 key when you see the probably-now-getting-a-bit-tedious Dell logo screen appear. Now, click ‘system setup’ and then ‘reset to default settings’, before saving and exiting.

If all goes to plan…

After doing this, your computer may well rocket past the splash screen and finally allow you entry into its wealth of browsing, working and gaming opportunities. If so, great. Unfortunately, there might be something different going on, and you might need to take it for repairs, or get a new one altogether.
