Dell is to Step Things up and Launch a 5K Monitor
We were all just getting to grips with 4K monitor technology until Dell announced it’s going to step things up and launch its UltraSharp 5K panel.
The 27inch Dell Ultrasharp UP2715K boasts an impressive 220DPI – which if you ask us that number is pretty much unheard of when it comes to PC monitors. Thanks to the 10-but IPS panel the colour accuracy is exactly on point, the panel delivers 99% of Adobe RGB and 100% of sRGB coverage. Those engaging in colour-critical work flows like photographers, videographers and graphic designers will have a field day with this monitor.
Other key features include 178 degree viewing angles, 350 nits of brightness, 1000:1 static contrast radio and an 8ms response time. Pretty impressive right? The UP2715K require two active DisplayPort connections to run at 60Hz, with its native 5, 120×2,880 resolution. The monitor boasts a media card reader, six USB ports and comes as standard with two 16-watt integrated Harman Kardon speakers.
This amazing monitor is compatible with any PC and will go on sale for under $2,000, making it an even more desirable purchase. When it does eventually go on sale the UP2715K is likely to be the only 5K resolution monitor available for purchase. This has to literally be the most impressive monitor ever!
So, what are you thoughts on the 5K monitor from Dell? Will you be hitting the shops to purchase one or are you happy with the 4K monitor? It’s been said that vendors are now looking beyond 4K and from 5 to 8K resolution instead, it’s rumoured that the first 8K resolution television is set to be launched in 2015, with 8K monitors making an appearance in 2017.
