ITC Reviews: Dell Latitude 14 E7450 Ultrabook
What immediately hits home after spending a little time with the Dell Latitude 14 E7450 is that this was a machine that was clearly built from the ground up with productivity in mind. It isn’t what you’d call a powerhouse and nor is it the prettiest laptop on earth, but nor does it have to be as it was designed by Dell to be versatile, practical and powerful enough to get the job done without having to spend a small fortune in the process.
There’s really no denying that at this kind of price point, it’s a pretty sweet deal for a well set up Ultrabook with a highly capable touchscreen. Basically what Dell has done this time around is to take everything about the E7450’s predecessors and ramp it up a fraction to create something decidedly more enticing. If you’re already familiar with the series then chances are you’ll know it doesn’t mess around when it comes to battery life – always essential for the midlevel professional on the go.
Loaded with 8GB of RAM and with CPU choices up to a mighty Intel Core i7, there’s really nothing you can throw at this thing that it cannot handle. And that also applies pretty appropriately in a literal sense as well as Dell has fitted it with a solid carbon-fiber and magnesium-alloy body which makes it an especially durable Ultrabook, particularly when compared to many of its closest rivals which are rather more on the front row side of things. On the whole, you could basically look at the E7450 as one of the genuinely high-end Dell laptops from the brand’s Latitude range, only shrunk down and refined into Ultrabook form. The best of all worlds? If it’s a midlevel business device you’re looking for at a pretty unbeatable price, the answer is yes.
Bursting with connectivity and that outstanding battery life of 10 to 12 hours, it’s the kind of package that offers serious value for money. And while there have been one or two slight complaints from those who claim that the thing can get pretty warm underneath during heavy use, this is pretty much the same for most Ultrabooks on the markets and really of no great concern.
