ITC Reviews: Dell Latitude 14 E5450
While the Dell Latitude 14 E5450 isn’t what you’d call a show-stopping powerhouse, it does the single most important thing 99% of its buyers are looking for – it gets the job done. The Latitude 14 5000 series in general wasn’t designed to outpace or outclass its rivals in really any way, shape or form, but rather to become a part of the furniture of the kinds of offices and businesses where reliability matters most. And that’s exactly what it did, having sold in biblical numbers to become the mainstay work-horse at the heart of thousands of businesses across the UK and beyond.
They might call it a laptop, but to be honest this is every bit the Ultrabook without actually being named as such. It weighs in at just under 4lbs and has a gorgeously sleek and slender frame, which when combined with powerful Intel processors and SSD storage pretty much writes the perfect Ultrabook recipe.
In terms of options, the Latitude 14 E5450 is up for grabs with Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, along with a dual-core Intel Celeron option right at the bottom of the range. Machines can be selected with up to 8GB or RAM and storage options come in at 500GB for the SATA HDD or 256GB for those taking the SSD. The machines also come with Intel Integrated HD Graphics as standard or higher-end NVidia GeForce 830m or 840m.
In use, the Latitude 14 E5450 can handle anything you’d ever care to throw at it in any kind of standard business application. Some argue it’s not quite up there in resolution-stakes with the likes of the MacBook Pro, but at the same time this is a business machine for the most-part and wasn’t designed to be a top-shelf media studio. Multi-tasking is an absolute breeze, battery life tops out at around the nine-hour mark and connectivity/port provision is up there with the best in the business.
In conclusion, those on the lookout for a seriously capable business machine with more power than most will ever need, great battery life and perfect portability could do a lot worse than check out the Latitude 14 E5450.
