ITC Reviews: Dell Precision Workstation T7910

Upon its introduction last year, the Precision Workstation T7910 did a pretty good job in confusing a fair few early admirers. Why, you’d expect the T7910 to be a superior machine than the T7810 takes little to no explanation. But no…as it turned out, this would actually be something of a modest step down from its bigger brother, which shaved off a few bits and pieces spec-wise to come out with a superbly-agreeable purchase price.

And now that you have access to these fully-certified refurbished machines, the savings just keep on coming!

Of course what matters most about a like this is what it packs under the hood. The Precision Workstation range as a whole was designed to make mincemeat of the competition and specifically hit home with users with massively demanding graphic/video application needs. Dell’s approach to targeting these folks was simple – go well and truly ballistic with stupendously-powerful hardware, including the following:

  • Precision T7910 – 1300W Chassis
  • ® Xeon® E5-2623 v3 (4C HT, 10MB Cache, 3.0GHz Turbo)
  • 16GB (4x4GB) 2133MHz DDR4 RDIMM ECC
  • 500 GB 3.5inch SATA III Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
  • 8X DVD+/-RW Drive
  • 512 MB Quadro NVS 310 (2DP) (2DP-DVI adapter)
  • 10/100/1000
  • Dell Keyboard and Mouse
  • .1 Pro 64 bit

So as you can see, Dell wasn’t messing about when it came to launching a series of machines the likes of which were designed to handle anything and everything. And there’s of course plenty of scope for ramping up the volume – get greedy with or up the ante to ten cores if need be, there’s a ton of room for manoeuvre.

As mentioned above however, what’s perhaps most appealing about the Precision Workstation T7910 is its price. Or more specifically, the value for money it offers. When you bear in mind that this is an almighty powerful piece of kit and comes with a 3-Year Dell On-site Warranty as standard, £1,249 +vat really doesn’t seem like a lot to pay. Of course there are tons of other cheap computers for sale across our collection and that of Dell, but when it comes to serious bang for buck, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better package than this.
