Windows 10 is Coming – Reserve Your Free Copy Now!
In case you weren’t already aware by now, Windows 10 is scheduled to be released on July 29, and what’s more, Microsoft is offering the upgrade 100% free of charge to most! The long and short of it is that if you’re currently running a legal version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, you’ll be eligible for the free upgrade. So even if your Dell laptops are almost as old as you are, chances are you’ll still be able to take home W10 free of charge!
In the meantime you can reserve your copy right now, which is easy to do and takes just a few minutes. Here’s how it’s done:
Windows Updates
First of all, you’ll need to download and install the latest Windows updates for the version you’re running right now.
- Windows 8 – To update your OS, head into the ‘Settings’ menu and choose ‘Change PC Settings’. From here, you’ll need to select the ‘Update and Recovery’ option and use the tools there to download and install the updates.
- Windows 7 – With 7, it’s simply a case of hitting the Start button and entering ‘Update’ in the box to bring up the ‘Windows Update’ option. Select the ‘Check for Updates’ option and install any that are available.
Reserving Windows 10
As for reserving W10, the good news is that it really couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is:
- When the Windows icon appears in your system tray, click it
- There should be an option that says ‘Reserve Your Free Upgrade’ – click this
- Then prompted, enter the information as requested
- You’ll then receive confirmation of your order and will have the option to cancel at any time if you so wish
